    What Makes This Recipe Work

    • Simple and quick - only 6 ingredients!
    • Great for many dietary restrictions - this recipe is vegan, plant-based, gluten free, dairy free and paleo.
    • Minimal work and minimal cleanup!

    Ingredients

Here are the ingredients you need to make this recipe. Reference the recipe card at the bottom for exact measurements and the notes below for substitution ideas.

    ingredients for this recipe
    • Cauliflower:  Opt for pre-cut cauliflower florets in this case.  It's just easier, cauliflower tends to get messy.
    • Avocado Oil:  I like avocado oil because you do not have to worry about the temperature when cooking with it.  You could also opt for coconut oil here if you prefer.
    • Buffalo Sauce:  I like to do store-bought buffalo sauce for this recipe.  If your buffalo sauce is too thick, try thinning it out with a little bit of rice vinegar.
    • Ranch Seasoning: Check the label for ranch dip mix, many have dairy in them. If you are looking to make this recipe dairy free or vegan be sure to use ranch seasoning without milk in it.

    How to Make This Recipe

This is a step-by-step walkthrough of how to cook this recipe. The recipe card at the bottom shows the exact cook time and temperatures.

steps for making cauliflower with buffalo sauce in the air fryer
    1. Season the chopped florets. Drizzle the florets with avocado oil.  Season the wings with salt and pepper.
    2. Make the ranch buffalo sauce. Mix ½ packet ranch seasoning with ½ cup buffalo wing sauce and set aside.  Thin the sauce with a little rice vinegar if desired.
    3. Cook. Air fry in one layer, in two batches at 380F for 12-15 minutes, shaking the basket halfway.
    4. Sauce those wings!  Gently toss the cooked florets with the sauce.  Serve hot with ranch on the side if desired.

    Expert Tips

    • Add more or less buffalo sauce depending on your desired level of heat and how spicy you want them.
    • Make ahead: The ingredients are super easy to prep.  You can have all of the items ready and throw in the air fryer when you want to make them.
    • Storage: Store in an air tight container for up to 2 days in the refrigerator.  Note that refrigerating them will take away any crisp so you may want to broil them to crisp them up a bit.
    • Reheating: Reheat in the air fryer at 380F for 3-4 minutes or until heated through.
    • Try adding these to tortillas along with some coleslaw and guacamole for a delicious vegan taco.
    • Serve with ranch or blue cheese dip.

    FAQs

How can I get it to be crunchy?

Cauliflower is one of those veggies that it's extremely hard to get super crispy.  This recipe should be eaten right out of the air fryer.

Note that this air fryer buffalo cauliflower recipe is not crispy.  If you want a crispier crunchy floret allow your florets to sit under the broiler for a few minutes (watching it closely!) before you add the sauce.

Breading also helps to achieve a crisp. Try mixing in some regular flour, cornstarch, almond flour or panko breadcrumbs prior to air frying for some crunch. Broiling for 2 minutes will also help to add more crisp.

Can I make these with frozen cauliflower?

I do not recommend making them this way. Frozen vegetables tend to have a lot of water in them which could make these soggy.
