How to Make This Shrimp Pizza Recipe
Below are step-by-step instructions for how to cook this recipe. The recipe card at the bottom shows the exact cooking time and temperatures.
- Air fry the shrimp for about 4 minutes. We used our air fryer shrimp recipe and cut the time in half. You could cook the shrimp in a large skillet using this garlic butter shrimp recipe. While the shrimp is cooking, coat the flatbread with olive oil and top it with cheese.
- If using, place the veggies on top of the cheese next. I used zucchini slices.
- Once the shrimp is partially cooked, place it on top of the pizza and place it on a baking sheet. Air fry for an additional 5 minutes or until the shrimp are cooked and the crust is golden brown.
- Place the cooked shrimp pizza onto a cutting board and top with basil or your favorite fresh herbs. Top with balsamic glaze and cut into slices before serving.
Expert Tips
- The size of the air fryer used will impact cooking time. Smaller air fryers take less time to cook while an oven with the air fryer function may take much longer.
- To make this shrimp pizza using an oven, grill, or pizza oven, you will need additional equipment such as a pizza stone, pizza pan, baking sheet, or a pizza peel.
- Add some minced garlic to the shrimp before air frying for a garlicky shrimp flavor.
- Top with some red pepper flakes for some heat.
- Add some diced red onions, fresh lemon juice, or some lemon zest to the top of the shrimp pizza for some freshness.
- Serve with a green salad for an easy meal!
Recipe FAQs
The best way to avoid rubbery shrimp is to not overcook them. Shrimp tend to make a "c" shape once they are done cooking. Large shrimp will take longer to cook than smaller shrimp.
To avoid overcooking the shrimp, this recipe has you cook the shrimp for half of the recommended time before adding it to the top of the pizza and cooking it for the rest of the time.
Cook times depend on the size of the air fryer you are using and this method has given consistent results.
