    ingredients for this recipe.
    • Bacon: Can be wrapped in bacon, in prosciutto or in turkey bacon - any of these will work for this recipe. I tend to opt for thin-sliced versus thick sliced so they can be air fried more quickly and evenly.

    How to Make This Recipe

This is a step-by-step walkthrough of how to cook this recipe. The recipe card at the bottom shows the exact cook time and temperatures.

    steps for making this recipe.
    1. Place cleaned asparagus on a sheet pan or in a large bowl and drizzle with olive oil. Season with pepper.
    2. Separate spears into 6 groups of 5.
    3. Wrap a piece of bacon or prosciutto in a spiral curl around each bundle.
    4. Place bundles in the basket and air fry at 400F for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway.

Expert Tips & Things to Know

    • How to make these in the oven: Place bundles on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and roast at 400F for 20 minutes, flipping halfway.
    • Temperature: Cook these at 400F for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway to ensure even cooking.
    • Best way to wrap the meat: Wrap the meat around in a spiral curl pattern rather than wrapping it around and on top of each layer. This will help to ensure that the meat cooks evenly and crisps.
    • Adding salt:  A little salt goes a long way due to the saltiness of the bacon or prosciutto.  I recommend salting after roasting to see if it's needed.
    • If using thick cut bacon you may need to add additional minutes to the cook time to ensure even doneness.
    • To add some sweetness, drizzle with maple syrup or stir in some brown sugar.
    • For even more bold savory flavor stir in minced garlic or garlic powder.
    • Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Best eaten the day of to ensure maximum crispiness.
    • Reheat: Reheat by air frying at 350F for 3-5 minutes or until heated through and crispy.

    FAQs

How long do I put asparagus in the air fryer?

This recipe takes only 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway.

    Can I use frozen asparagus?

Although frozen asparagus may be used, I advise against it to ensure optimal crispiness. The frozen asparagus tend to create more steam which will inhibit the bacon and veggie from getting a good crisp.

How can you make sure it doesn't get soggy?

Blot any excess moisture from the veggie and don't use frozen. Opt for the air fryer over the oven for maximum crispiness.
