Ingredients & Substitutions
Here are the ingredients you need to make this recipe. Reference the recipe card at the bottom for exact measurements and the notes below for substitution ideas.
- Oat Milk: I highly recommend Chobani Original Oatmilk for this recipe. It is my favorite milk to make this recipe. I also love to use it in matcha lattes and coffee drinks.
- Maple syrup: I used maple syrup to sweeten and provide a refined sugar free sweetener. You could also make it with honey if you don't need it to be vegan.
- Cacao powder: I like to use cacao powder for its nutritional benefits (read more about the nutritional benefits of cacao on WebMd). Cocoa powder is also a great substitution. Alternatively, swap out cacao powder for white chocolate chips to make a white chocolate version.

Recipe FAQs
It is a delicious non dairy, vegetarian and vegan alternative to dairy milk or water. It provides a thick, creamy and smooth texture.
Any nut milk will work! You could also use almond milk, coconut milk or cashew milk.
I've found that it heats up very nicely in the microwave. I prefer warming it using the microwave because it's super easy and quick. It works faster than boiling it on the stove top.
