Flatbread pizza on the grill is my favorite easy way to have delicious and healthy grilled pizza in just about 15 minutes! Quick to make and great to customize using different toppings. You can use premade Naan or Stonefire flatbread or even make your own flatbread dough from scratch on a gas grill, over charcoal or even a pellet grill like Traeger!

    Ingredients & Substitutions

Here are the ingredients you need to make this recipe. Reference the recipe card at the bottom for exact measurements and the notes below for substitution ideas.

    ingredients for this recipe
    • Flatbread dough: You can make it with pizza dough that is homemade or use a store-bought, pre-made version like Naan or Stonefire.

    • Steak & gorgonzola: Grilled steak, gorgonzola cheese and arugula top this version.

    • BBQ chicken: Made with chicken, bbq sauce and
    • Hawaiian: Pineapple and ham.
    • Veggie: Make a vegetarian version and top with summer veggies like zucchini and squash.

    How to Make This Recipe

This is a step-by-step walkthrough of how to cook this recipe. The recipe card at the bottom shows the exact cook time and temperatures.

    steps for making this recipe
    1. Preheat grill to medium heat (about 350F) Place pizza dough on a sheet pan lined with parchment paper.  Spray both sides of the dough with coconut oil or brush olive oil on each side.
    2. Place crusts directly on the grates for about 3-5 minutes for store bought flatbread or 5-10 minutes for homemade crust. Crust is done once the one side has nice grill marks without being burned.  Carefully remove pizza from the grill to add toppings.
    3. Add sauce, toppings and cheese to the side with the grill marks.  Carefully brush grill with additional olive oil if necessary and place topped pizzas back on the grates for another 3-5 minutes or until cheese is melted and the bottom crust has nice grill marks.
    4. Let pizza sit for a few moments before carefully cutting into pieces.

    Expert Tips

    • When using homemade flatbread dough the cooking time will be longer. Store bought flatbreads like Naan or Stonefire tend to grill much more quickly. Aim for 3-5 minutes per side for pre-made and 5-10 minutes per side for homemade.
    • Storage: Store leftovers in the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
    • Freezer: Leftovers may be stored in the freezer in a freezer-safe container for up to 3 months. You can also use frozen dough that has been defrosted.
    • Reheat: Reheat leftovers on the grill over medium heat until heated through.
