A delicious chocolate cherry smoothie with no banana for a healthy morning breakfast. Filled with protein, spinach and frozen cherries, this healthy smoothie recipe will keep you full and nourished!
1 cup milk
1 cup spinach
3/4 cup frozen cherries
1 tbsp almond butter
1 serving protein of choice (mine was 2 scoops)
1 tbsp cacao
Add all ingredients into a high-speed blender (I recommend the Vitamix).
Layer in this order – liquid, spinach, powders, fruit.
Blend on low for 40 seconds and then on high for 20 seconds to achieve a smooth smoothie with no chunks.
I tend to opt for plant protein with whole food ingredients. For this recipe I used Care of Plant Protein.
Making a smoothie with milk versus water will depend on your preference. Milk and nut milks tend to make smoothies thicker while water will make it thinner.

I recently purchased a Vitamix and could not recommend it more! It is definitely pricier than some blenders but highly worth the investment if making smoothies is something you do frequently.
