Chocolate Cherry Smoothie
Ready for a quiz? Here we go:
What is a delicious combination? Chocolate with cherries of course!
What is one of my least favorite snacks? A smoothie that tastes like grass and leaves me hungry in 20 minutes.

🍒 Ingredients – What You Need To Make a Chocolate Cherry Spinach Smoothie
Here are the ingredients you’ll need:
Ingredients for a Healthy Smoothie
- Milk of your choice: Depending on your preference and dietary restrictions, any milk of your choice will work – dairy, oat or nut milk are all great choices.
- Vanilla protein of your choice: I generally lean towards plant protein and for this recipe I used Care of Plant Protein.
- Cacao
- Almond butter
- Spinach
- Frozen cherries
Surprised to see no banana? This chocolate cherry smoothie is made without bananas!
Adding a banana to a smoothie does tend to make it thicker and creamier. You can also achieve that by adding in some frozen avocado.
🔪 Instructions – How To Make a Healthy Green Smoothie with Chocolate and Cherries
Here is how you make it:
- Add Ingredients to blender: Add all ingredients into a high-speed blender (I recommend the Vitamix).
- Layer in this order: Start with liquids, then spinach, then powders, then frozen fruit.
- Blending directions: Blend on low for 40 seconds and then on high for 20 seconds to achieve a smooth smoothie with no chunks.

I tend to opt for plant protein with whole food ingredients. For this recipe I used Care of Plant Protein.

Making a smoothie with milk versus water will depend on your preference. Milk and nut milks tend to make smoothies thicker while water will make it thinner.
