The one thing I could NEVER give up, like ever is desserts!  It’s just not going to happen.  Who wants to live a life without dessert??

But, if you are looking to follow the keto diet plan then you will want to make some modifications to make sure that your baking recipe is keto-friendly!

These are flourless brownies that are super yummy, super fudgy, and will keep you going on your ketogenic diet journey!

What is the Keto Diet

Before I tell you about what the Keto diet is, I disclaim that any and all “diet” that you choose to follow should be discussed with your doctor.

In a quick and dirty Keto tutorial, the Keto diet is basically where you eat higher amounts of fats and lower amounts of carbs.  Once done properly, following a Keto diet will send your body into a state of ketosis, during which your stored fat is used as energy.  So, your calories are coming from fat, not carbs.  Thus, your body burns your stored fat!  If the Keto diet is something you’re looking to follow, it can become quite pricey to purchase fresh, organic foods, right?!  In an effort to help you stay on budget, this post is going to help you navigate the Keto diet at my favorite budget friendly keto store, Aldi!

What not to eat on the Keto Diet

How can we make brownies keto-friendly?  There are a few items that are no-no’s on the keto diet.

The keto diet is defined as low-carb.  That means you will be limiting certain foods.

The foods to avoid on keto are:

alcohol
grains
sugars and sweets
processed foods
high-carb fruits
factory farmed fish & pork
refined oils and fats
milk

The key to this (and many) keto diet desserts is the addition of fats and the removal of sugar!  This keto brownie recipe includes avocado, peanut butter and my favorite Keto-friendly sweetener, Swerve!

Keto Avocado Brownies

Ingredients

  • 4 Large Eggs
  • 2 Ripe Avocados
  • 1/2 cup grassfed butter melted
  • 6 TB natural peanut butter
  • 2 tsp baking soda
  • 2/3 cup Swerve
  • 2/3 cup Unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp sea salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350.  Line an 8X8 pan with parchment paper.  In a food processor, blend all ingredients until smooth with no lumps. 

    Pour batter into prepared dish.  Even out top with spatula.

    Bake brownies until they are soft but not wet, 25-30 minutes.  Cool completely before serving

    Can I get the nutrition information such as how many net carbs it has.. and what the serving size is…thank you

      macros are listed at the bottom of the recipe. serving size is one donut. hope that helps!
