If Disney is a once in a lifetime destination for you and you happen to go during one of the seasons of the year when there are special events, I HIGHLY suggest you consider them.  Even if you go to Disney World frequently, just go!  Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party and Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party are great reasons to take the Disney magic up a notch!

What is Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party?

Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party is a fun and festive special event that is hosted at Walt Disney World in Florida on select evenings throughout November and December.  The party starts at 7p and lasts until midnight!  The party requires a special ticket outside of regular park admittance for the day.  Guests with special Party tickets receive wristbands and are able to enter the park as early as 4pm.  Ending park hours for parkgoers without Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party tickets is 7p.

At 7pm, Walt Disney World is transformed into a magical Christmas wonderland.  Festive Disney characters, snow on Main Street U.S.A, free cookies and cocoa, what more can you ask for?? I’ve been to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party twice and both times did not disappoint.

What Makes Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party Worth it?

Once Upon a Christmastime Parade

The Once Upon a Christmastime Parade is AWESOME!  I was so sad when Disney decided to discontinue the Electrical Parade but seriously thrilled when I got to see the Once Upon a Christmastime Parade.  It’s filled with so many favorite characters including a few that you NEVER see during non-Christmas time.  My girls were so excited to see Clarabelle Cow!  You also get to see the dancing reindeer and toy soliders which were a family favorite.  Our favorite spot to view the parade is on ironically right in front of the Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe near Liberty Square.

Mickey’s Most Merriest Celebration

Mickey’s Most Merriest Celebration is an adorable show right on stage in front of Cinderella’s Castle.  You can see all of your favorite Disney characters dressed in their Christmas finest!

Another adorable stage show where Queen Elsa uses her special powers to have the castle come to light.  I’ve never seen Cinderella’s Castle look more gorgeous!

Any firework lover will love watching the Holiday Wishes Fireworks.  If you’ve been to Disney you know how amazing the Wishes firework display is!

Snow on Main Street U.S.A.

Being on Main Street U.S.A. just make me happy.  But when it’s all decked out for Christmas and it starts snowing?? Yes they really make it snow on Main Street U.S.A.  It’s unbelievably magical!

How to Plan to attend Mickey’s Christmas Party with Small Children?

The first time I went to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party was with my then three year and seven month old.  I was a little nervous to spend the money on the tickets with them being so small.  I mean, they usually go to bed at 8pm!  With a little pre-planning we were able to make the most of the Party!

Disney World with Toddlers

Here are my top tips for attending Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party with Small Children!

Tip 1:  Don’t make too many plans for earlier in the day.  Let the kids sleep in, relax, maybe enjoy the pool or a laid back character breakfast.

Tip 2:  Plan for a nap.  Do your best to get your kids to take a nap.  It will help if you want to keep them up a little later than usual

Tip 3:  Plan to arrive to the park right at 4p, the Party opening hours.  This will give you time to get in and will give you more time in the park.

Tip 4:  Expect that kids could get cranky.  We went in with expectations that there could be meltdowns.

Tip 5:  Come prepared with bedtime essentials.  Pack your Christmas jammies and favorite blanky or stuffed animal!  When my girls were ready to pack it in, they were happy to sit in the stroller and watch the Disney Christmas parade or just take in the sights.

These tips really helped us to be prepared and really enjoy the Party.  My youngest fell asleep in the stroller (score!) and my oldest (who apparently doesn’t like sleep) enjoyed staying up late!  Since there are much less people who go to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party were able to score a Seven Dwarfs Mine Train Fast Pass while we were there!

OK I’m hooked!  How do I go to the biggest Disney World Christmas party around?

Really wanting to go to this party in November but never have been to Disney World. Since we have to pay for a park ticket plus a party ticket, are we able to go to the park earlier then 4 with our regular ticket?

They start letting in party people at 4pm. You have to buy a regular ticket to get there all day. The regular park pass for that day ends at 7 when the party begins. So if you’re going and not planning on doing the party make sure you hit the park the day there is no party otherwise you have a shorter day!
