Decluttering and organization has been huge on our family to-do list for this year! Naturally, I wanted to figure out a way to create a simple laundry routine that would help that. Without a system in place, laundry would take forever to do! If laundry seems to take up way too much of your time, you’re not alone! Before we had kids managing our laundry routine was simple. We were able to get our laundry done on the weekends, no biggie! But with endless messes, stains, and never-ending piles, I needed to figure out a simple laundry schedule that would help our family. Throw in our sensitive skin and I was also adding find a detergent for sensitive skin to the mix!
Step 1 – Find the best detergent for sensitive skin
When I was shopping for a detergent I wanted to find something that would work for our sensitive skin! My girls are particularly sensitive to harsh perfumes and dyes so I needed something that was known for being free of these ingredients. all® free clear detergent is #1 Recommended Detergent by Dermatologists, Allergists, and Pediatricians for sensitive skin. It’s also 100% free of perfumes & dyes which made it a perfect match for us! I was able to find both the all® free clear detergent and all® free clear Mighty Pacs® while shopping at Target. I like to buy both for different reasons!
When I’m throwing in a full load I will put an all® free clear Mighty Pacs® in. Sometimes, I’ll want to run a small load or even pretreat a tough stain with all® free clear detergent.

Step 2 – Create a Simple Laundry Schedule. Less laundry time, More time to get play and get messy!
This simple system is designed to have you do one load of laundry each day. Of course if you have a large family, it may be hard to get all of the laundry done in one load, I can definitely understand that. But, if that’s the case, adapt this schedule for your own family. Either way, you will find that doing a little bit everyday will help to eliminate the hours upon hours spent on the weekends!
Also — you definitely want to be mindful of wash instructions of your clothes. However, I will confess that I often run everything together. It’s just easier. I’m looking for simple, right? Here is the simple laundry schedule.
Step 1 – If you have it, take advantage of your washing machine’s delay feature. Set the timer to run a load every night. I have ours set to run each night around 4am so I can be sure it’s done by the time I wake up. If you don’t have one, try running a load each day when you get home. Then you will have it dry by evening and can move on to Step 2.
Step 2 – As soon as you wake up, move the washed laundry to the dryer. Let the dryer do it’s job.
Step 3 – Fold and put away the one basket.
Optional step – If you are having trouble finding the time to put the laundry away each day, save that for the weekend. It’s a lot easier to have to just put away laundry on the weekend instead of also having to wash and dry it!
