Since I became aware of the word diet (a word that I hate by the way, but that’s another day, another blog post 🙂 ) I knew that there were a ton of different diets you could do to lose weight. The first diet I remember was the Atkins diet. It was really popular among celebrities so of course it became something that everyone tried!
Since that time, several other diet plans have become popular and had their diet day in the sun. Right now, the Keto diet is gaining a ton of popularity. Even though I don’t personally follow it and likely won’t in the foreseeable future (mainly because I love fruit and grains), I have several friends who love it and swear by it.
I do believe that a low carb diet has many benefits and try to eat as few carbs as I can at certain times of the day.
What is the Keto Diet
Before I tell you about what the Keto diet is, I disclaim that any and all “diet” that you choose to follow should be discussed with your doctor.
In a quick and dirty Keto tutorial, the Keto diet is basically where you eat higher amounts of fats and lower amounts of carbs. Once done properly, following a Keto diet will send your body into a state of ketosis, during which your stored fat is used as energy.
So, your calories are coming from fat, not carbs. Thus, your body burns your stored fat! If the Keto diet is something you’re looking to follow, it can become quite pricey to purchase fresh, organic foods, right?!

How to find Budget Friendly Keto Diet Food Items
Aldi is my favorite budget store for any type of diet. Whether you’re doing keto on a budget or another type of healthy eating plan, Aldi is the place to be! Just as with any store, you can stick to certain areas of the store to find the most nutritious foods! Fresh veggies is a perfect place to start to find nutritious food.
Aldi has a great selection of ketogenic friendly foods such as cashews, almonds, organic cheeses, meats, as well as tons of keto approved vegetables. Aldi has a great selection of items to make great keto recipes! But, I am also curious about Keto snacks. I’m a snack lover and always want to have snacks on hand.
