I used to be like many of you.  I used Pinterest on occasion, mostly for personal reasons.  Pinning decor for my dream kitchen or countless recipes, Pinterest was nothing more than a way for me to dream big about a new project or something that might never even happen!

How Pinterest is changing in 2018

Pinterest is no longer just for wannabe Joanna Gaines’ or to find a yummy recipe.  If you are in an online business, Pinterest is your new best friend.  Pinterest is a search engine, similar to Google.  What makes Pinterest different is that for your end user, searching is very visually appealing.  They are likely to spend more time on Pinterest and look for multiple things.  As of late 2017, Pinterest has added the use of hashtags for searches, making it that much easier for you and your customer to connect!  What’s even better is that unlike Facebook or Instagram, Pinterest pins can be resurfaced for months and even years!  I have pins still getting re-pinned from my photography business that I started 6 years ago!

I spent YEARS trying to rank on Google and get my Facebook posts seen.  Who knew there was an easier way?  Is your current strategy getting you in front of 260k set of eyes per month?

Pinterest for Business – My process

So what does this mean for you?  How do you use Pinterest for business without spending a ton of time.  In a few minutes, I’m going to explain the scheduler I use to be extremely present on Pinterest.  But first, here is a quick rundown of what I do on Pinterest.

  1.  For any blog post I do, I make 1-3 pinnable images.  I embed long-tail keywords into the alt image along with hashtags.  That way when someone pins my pin directly from my blog, it will show up in more Pinterest searches.
  2. I pin each image to my blog Pinterest board as well as several group boards.  The more group boards you can be a part of, the more your content will get seen.
  3. I use Tailwind, and Tailwind tribes to broadcast my pin to even more viewers as well as schedule pins to stay relevant.  More on scheduling below.
  4. I manually pin about 15 or so pins per day.  They are always vertical, very visually appealing, and niche-specific.

Tools to make your Life Easier

I don’t know about you but I don’t really want to spend my entire day on Pinterest.  I mean I could, but I would be pinning dream kitchen pins, not healthy lifestyle pins like I know my readers are looking for #pinterestprobs

Tailwind does the work for me!  Tailwind is an automated service that schedules pins to your boards for the optimal times that Pinterest users are active.  To keep my process efficient, I will batch schedule.  Once a week I will schedule about 25-30 pins per day to go to various boards that my niche specific.  That way my pins are consistent and attractive to my followers.

Tailwind Tribes takes it to the next step!

When I decided to start using Pinterest for business I realized that the more automation and the bigger reach I could get, the better!  I decided to join Tailwind Tribes to enable my content to be seen my even more viewers.  Tailwind Tribes are groups of other Pinterest for business users who are in your niche.  You share each others content so that it gets seen by even more people!  Tailwind starts as low as $9.99 which is a pretty incredible investment considering how many eyes you get on your content!

Try Tailwind!

Why Pinterest for Business?

As I am trying to grow my blog I realized that the majority of my traffic was coming from Pinterest.  I know make it a priority in my business to have a solid Pinterest strategy.  Tailwind makes it so much easier and the results speak for themselves!  Since implementing this strategy, my blog subscriptions have increasingly grown and I anticipate that to continue into 2018!

So tell me friends are you using Pinterest for business yet?  If you’re on Pinterest, let’s connect!  You can find me here!  @mommafitlyndsey

These are my personal results, but Tailwind also publishes the Typical Results of Tailwind for Pinterest Members/Typical Results of Tailwind for Instagram Members every year, so you can see what the average growth rate looks like for all of their members.

Thanks for this! I feel like I do every single thing you mentioned here: I pin 2-3 images per post, create some Pinterest optimized images with text, use tailwind and post 10+ times per day; I am still seeing very very few website visits 🙁
I am hanging in there, but I have been diligent on Pinterest for around 2.5 months and I am a little discouraged.

      December 30, 2017 at 8:50 pm

don’t get discouraged! Just keep working on the visual aspect of it and finding the right tailwind tribes. Are you using Pinterest group boards?
