Your guide to avoiding holiday weight gain through 7 quick tips!
The holidays are quickly approaching! I know when I go into the holidays with a plan it’s much easier to avoid holiday weight gain!
Figuring out how to stay on top of healthy eating during the holidays doesn’t have to be painful! Let me start by saying that I 100% believe that you should enjoy the holidays and the tastes of the season. But, for those with health & fitness goals, staying in control and avoiding holiday weight gain can happen! These 7 simple steps can help you to stay on course.
My Top Tips for Avoiding Holiday Weight Gain
Tip 1: Bust a Move Daily – Move ya booty!
Commit to 30 minutes of exercise per day. Anything to get your blood flowing and get those endorphins moving will keep you feeling energized! Sometimes its all about finding a group of fit friends to keep you moving towards your goals. If you need accountability, I can help! You can join my free fitness community on Facebook!
Tip 2: Follow the 80/20 rule – moderation is key!
Don’t expect perfection. You won’t be able to eat according to your meal plan all of the time. Planning your indulgences during events and parties should help you focus on your goals and healthy eating most of the time.
Tip 3: Stay hydrated – Drink that water!
Make sure you aim for drinking enough water throughout the day. Healthline had a great resource about calculating how much water you should drink per day.
Tip 4: Keep an eye on your drinks – they’re sneaky!
Alcohol can be a sneaky source of calories and sugar which can lead to overconsumption of calories very quickly.
Tip 5: Taste everything – seriously!
Don’t limit yourself or make food “off limits.” Rather than taking a large portion of all of the food available at a party, take a smaller portion of each. That way you can taste everything without overindulging.
Tip 6: Don’t skip meals, ever!
Going to a party hungry is not a good idea! Don’t skip meals to “make room” for later meals. Fill up on veggies and protein prior to parties or events so that you are able to make good food choices and keep your portions in control.
Tip 7: Fail to plan – plan to fail!
If you have a plan of what you’ll eat, exercise, and indulge, then you can have 100% enjoyment and freedom in the season. You can focus on the party, friends and family, and making magical memories instead of feeling bad about what you are eating!
