Indoor Activities for Kids! My Top 5 Preschool Activities to do at Home
The time is upon us! Winter boredom is bound to settle in!! Even if you don’t fully get winter like we do here in Pittsburgh, the winter months are sure to bring some indoor days. Between sick kids (or mommas!) and bad weather, sometimes we are stuck indoors. Dress up can only go so far and once we’ve created our summer bucket list, its time to figure out how to beat winter boredom! Here are a few of my favorite indoor activities for kids!

Indoor Activities for kids
Games can be a really fun way to get your family away from the electronics and bonding together. They usually only require a few household items that you should have on-hand. What I like about creating fun and different games is that it keeps everyone active! This list from Today’s Parent has a great amount of ideas for fun games to do indoors!
My girls love to do crafts and create. Sometimes I let them just go crazy with all of the glitter and glue that their little hearts could desire. But, other times I want to keep the mess contained and the Crayola Color Wonder Magic Light brush is awesome because it is All Magic. No Mess. Amen to that! This mess free painting is great because the colors only appear on Color Wonder special paper. It won’t color on skin, fabric, or furniture. My girls are notorious for having marker stained hands, so of course I love that this toy can be used when they have nicer clothes on!
My girls loved that the brush magically lights up to match the chosen color of paint. It even let us have a rare moment of artistic collaboration between the two of them.
Recommended for ages 3+.
Have a bath party!
My girls spend the time from September through May asking when we can go to the pool. Unless we are heading on vacation, a bath party usually does the trick. I let them put on their bathing suits and use the big bathtub with all of their toys.
Have an indoor picnic!
This tip was given to me by one of the mentor moms in our MOPS group. When the weather outside won’t let you go outside for a picnic, pop right down in your living room. Put out a blanket, some paper plates and let everyone eat off of the floor. It might lead to a few extra crumbs, but the novelty of eating a picnic inside should entertain for awhile.
Get the kids moving!
A little movement is good! Of course you can’t bring the playground inside during the winter months, but sometimes a little yoga or light exercise for kids is a great way to keep everyone in a good mood! I loved this video I found on YouTube for kids yoga routines!
How do you keep your little ones entertained during the winter months?
